Startups' most untapped resource: Communities of Color
As a fellow in several research programs at UCLA, our founder: Michael-Sesen Perrilliat sought to understand the lack of involvement of Oakland's black and brown communities in tech and startups. Through these programs, he built a framework toward understanding the causes of historical exclusion. The next step lies in providing equitable solutions for the future. TIED, founded in 2020, helps to launch and fund equitable organizations and startups year-round.
Our mission is to give marginalized populations the tools and guidance to build community-based, transformational companies. We believe ongoing research and community engagement are essential tools for creating viable solutions. To achieve this, we utilize a growing network of community partners who help identify and pursue potential strategies.
